•  Whiten while you eat: certain foods like apples, cerlery, carrots, strawberries, spinach and broccoli are great ways to clean your teeth.  Make these foods part of your everyday meals.

• Drink through a straw: drinking through a straw will prevent stains from dark colored drinks such as colas, berry juices, coffee, tea... put a couple of straws in your purse and your on your way.

Instead, advises Dr. Levine, try nude shades or pinks that have bluish undertones.

Acidic and strongly pigmented food, drink, tobacco as well as normal aging cause the staining that makes your teeth appear discolored. WhiteScience’s products remove stains by penetrating the tooth structure, erasing stains and rejuvenating the color of your teeth.

How does teeth whitening work?
Teeth whitening is principally a cosmetic procedure that removes stains and gives your teeth the appearance of a whiter and brighter smile. Like all cosmetic procedures, you cannot change your natural DNA. The color of your teeth cannot change to a different color than what you had when your adult teeth replaced your baby teeth. You can alter the natural base color of your teeth only by having a cosmetic dentist replace your natural tooth structure with synthetic materials such as veneers, crowns or implants.

How many shades should I expect to see?
Most customers will see an improvement of 2 to 6 shades on the Vident scale, through either a SpaWhite or SolarWhite session. As with any cosmetic treatment, the degree of improvement is greatly influenced by the customer’s age, dental health (particularly in the health of tooth enamel), thickness of enamel, general health, genetics, and personal or dietary habits. Regularity and quality of dental care, brushing and flossing habits as well as diet, smoking and use of certain prescription or recreational drugs can have significant effects on who white an individual’s teeth will get.

Are the WhiteScience products safe and will they hurt my enamel?

Will I experience any sensitivity?
WhiteScience’s products have been developed in such a way that the vast majority of customers will experience mild to no sensitivity. With the mild sensitivity, you may experience a sensation of “scrubbing bubbles” on their teeth. Peroxide is an antiseptic and reacts to germs and bacteria. All cleansing and whitening products will have a few customers who will feel a sense of discomfort or tooth sensitivity. A small percentage of customers will experience “blanching”, where the peroxide in the pads affects sensitive portions of the customers gums causing them to turn white. This may result in irritation or sensitivity for a short period of time. In rare instances, a customer may wake up the next day with a blister caused by the interaction of the peroxide with their gums. This is not harmful, but rather a healthy healing process to cure gums. If a customer’s discomfort persists for more than one hour, they can rub vitamin E oil on the sensitive areas. Please note: sensitivity due to the use of peroxide products is actually highlighting an area that needed antiseptic attention and is an alert for the customer to seek periodontal treatment.

How long will my results last?
In most cases, a SpaWhite or SolarWhite treatment can last up to a year when observing good dental hygiene. You may notice fading anywhere from three months to a year after treatment, depending on your use of staining agents. Most customers find that repeating the process two to four times per year keeps their teeth consistently white. Additional use of the WhiteICE maintenance product and whitening toothpaste, will extend and even improve the whitening results.

SpaWhite Key Facts

SpaWhite is for natural teeth and whitens by removing stains, not “adding” whitening. Teeth cannot get whiter then they were when the permanent teeth came in, or in the case of synthetic tooth structures, when they were installed.
Tingling or slight gum sensitivity is normal and not harmful to gums or enamel. For people with sensitive gums, lightly coat the gums and lip area with petroleum jelly prior to treatment, being careful not to get any on the teeth.

SolarWhite Key Facts

SolarWhite is for natural teeth and whitens by removing stains, not “adding” whitening. Teeth cannot get whiter then  they were when the permanent teeth came in, or in the case of synthetic tooth structures, when they were installed.
Tingling or slight gum sensitivity is normal and not harmful to gums or enamel. For people with sensitive gums, lightly coat the gums and lip area with petroleum jelly prior to treatment, being careful not to get any on the teeth.
Blanching (or whitening) of the gums is common and normal. It is a temporary reaction due to the antiseptic nature of hydrogen peroxide and not harmful to teeth or gums.
Limit individuals to 2 consecutive treatments within 24 hours.
Important: For 24 hrs following a SolarWhite treatment, avoid consuming anything that would stain a white shirt!

After you apply WhiteICE, the material emulsifies with saliva and soon disappears. This is how the material gets between teeth and onto irregular tooth surfaces, providing total coverage.

WhiteICE is intended as a maintenance product. It's an antidote to exposure to foods that stain teeth. However, many patients find the use of WhiteICE actually continues and improves the whitening process over time. For best results, use WhiteICE in conjunction with a primary whitening treatment like SpaWhite or SolarWhite.

When used as directed, you should get about 20 upper and lower applications per stick.

Daily use is recommended on upper and lower teeth and is normally sufficient to maintain whitening.

Rinsing and brushing is not necessary after using WhiteICE, as it dissolves naturally with your saliva, leaving your mouth clean and fresh. However, if you choose to rinse or brush, you should wait at least 10 minutes.

On rare occasions users may experience heartburn, indigestion, gum irritation or tooth sensitivity. If you experience any of these symptoms discontinue use of WhiteICE and contact your physician or dentist. They symptoms can be indications of illness that may require professional intervention.

How to use White Ice:

1. Clean teeth before applying WhiteICE with Fresh Ups teeth wipes or by regular brushing. We recommend WhiteScience Multi-Action Whitening Toothpaste.
2. Twist case bottom to expose a small amount of the stick. Do not extend entire stick. Lightly rub on teeth leaving a thin film. If large clumps appear, use less pressure.
3. Avoid eating, drinking or licking teeth for 30 minutes after application. The white film disappears rapidly, penetrating teeth like lotion penetrates skin. It emulsifies naturally with saliva, flowing on and between irregular tooth surfaces.

How do I get whiter teeth....

First of all you need to know How to prevent staining your teeth

This question is asked to me numerous times.  The best answer is to drink lots of water and if you can wipe or brush your teeth after you have any type of foods such as coffee, tea, dark berries and chocolates.  Basically anything that will stain a white shirt will stain your teeth. 

To keep your teeth and gums healthy you need to brush and floss everyday.  There are foods that can help promote healthy teeth and gums such as milk, cheese, yogurt, broccolli, carrots, celerey and apples.  These foods also help remove stains and help whiten your teeth naturally. 

Tip: Prevent staining when drinking coffee or tea by adding cream.  The cream will lighten the coffee and tea and the protien from the cream will help remove stains. 

Tip: After eating anything that could stain your teeth, immediately drink water this will help remove staining agents as well.

Tip: Chew gum after a meal but be carefull of sugar content. 

Tip: Smokers...quit! or make sure you wipe your teeth with a wet cloth or drink plenty of water.
